Microsoft did a series of updates on August 12 that they
have now removed from their update stream due to many users reporting BSOD
errors.
My Windows 7 system would not boot to safe mode, so
exactly how do you remove the patches?
You will need your recovery boot CD.
Then from the command line remove windows\system32\fntcache.dat. Once you remove this file your system will
boot to safe mode so you can run the control panel-programs and features. Then select view installed updates and remove
the following patches: KB2982791, KB2970228, KB2975719 and KB2975331. Reboot and your system.
